Find clear answers to common questions about our treatments, scheduling, insurance policies, and what to expect during your care. Our goal is to provide transparency and support throughout your physical therapy journey.
In many cases, you do not need a referral to begin physical therapy. New York allows Direct Access to physical therapy, meaning you can be evaluated and treated by a licensed physical therapist without a physician’s referral for up to 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first. However, some insurance plans like Medicare may still require a referral.
Your first appointment will include a comprehensive evaluation by a licensed physical therapist. We'll review your medical history, assess your condition, and develop a personalized treatment plan. You should wear comfortable clothing and bring your insurance card and any relevant medical documents.
Sessions typically last between 45 and 60 minutes, depending on your condition and the treatment plan.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy movement and access to the area being treated. For example, wear shorts for knee or leg issues and a tank top for shoulder or upper back treatment.
We also provide shorts, gowns at our office for patients to change into.
We accept most major insurance plans, including Medicare, Workers' Compensation, and No-Fault. Please call our office or visit our Insurance page to verify your coverage.
The frequency of visits depends on your condition and treatment goals. Most patients are seen 2–3 times per week initially, with adjustments made as you progress.
Our goal is to reduce pain, not increase it. You may experience some soreness after exercises or manual therapy, but it should not be severe. Always communicate any discomfort to your therapist.
Duration varies based on your diagnosis, goals, and how your body responds to treatment. Some patients recover in a few weeks, while others may require ongoing care.
